Meet music journalist Holly George-Warren

Interested in music? Interested in journalism? Interested in music journalism? If so, meet Holly George-Warren at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at the Asheboro library.

Holly, who grew up in Asheboro, has become one of the country's foremost writers about popular music. Her work has appeared in Rolling Stone, The New York Times and Entertainment Weekly, among many other publications, and she served as editor-in-chief of Rolling Stone Press, the magazine's book division. She also has written or contributed to numerous books about rock 'n' roll and pop culture.

At the program, which is free, Holly will debut her new book Public Cowboy No. 1: The Life and Times of Gene Autry. Autry, known as the "Singing Cowboy," was a western movie superstar who created such classic tunes as "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer." Holly's biography, the first full-length work about Autry, will be released nationally in May by Oxford University Press.
See Holly on TV, too: we just received word that she will appear on the FOX 8 Morning News at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, April 5.

Fantastic article Ross, really great, I'll have to read one of Holly George-Warren's books as I live and breathe some of the music she's written about.
All the best,
Hopkinson
